Jim Pederson The objectives of any organization start with the philosophy and goals of the owner. A native Arizonan, Jim Pederson started his career as Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Phoenix after achieving Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Arizona. His experience in real estate development began as Vice President of the Grossman Company and then Vice President of Operations for Westcor, Inc. After 10 years experience with these prominent shopping center developers, Pederson began his own company in 1983. Since that time the company has grown to be among the premier retail developers in the southwest. Pederson has been very active in civic and professional affairs. He has served as an officer of the Valley Big Brothers, Rio Salado Development District Board, Mayor's Sports Advisory Committee, Phoenix Community Alliance, Valley Partnership, Chairman of the State Democratic Party and was a winner of the Phoenix Outstanding Young Man Award. He has been awarded the CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager) and CMD (Certified Marketing Director by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Jeff Manelis

   President


Jeff Manelis Jeff has been with The Pederson Group since 1990 and directs the operations of the company. This includes the property management, construction and financing disciplines. Jeff was born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois area and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Prior to entering the real estate development field, he was a financial representative and financial analyst in the Chicago area.

Rob Bassett

   Chief Operating Officer


Rob Bassett Rob Bassett is the COO of The Pederson Group which specializes in the development of class “A” retail shopping center throughout Arizona. In this capacity, his responsibilities include property management, construction, financing and development disciplines. Prior to joining the Pederson Group, Rob worked for Macerich for 14 years and Westcor for 4 years where he worked on all facets of development and multiple product types including land development, entitlements, auto malls, power centers, outlet malls and regional shopping centers.

Rob is a fourth-generation Arizonan. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona and his MBA from Arizona State University.

Rob is a member of Valley Partnership, Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is currently serving as a board member for Valley Partnership. He resides in Phoenix with his wife Jenny and three children.

James R. Pederson

Vice President/Designated Broker


James R. Pederson James R. Pederson has been with the Pederson Group since 2006 and is the senior leasing agent for the company’s retail centers. His primary responsibilities include negotiating new lease agreements and working with existing tenants on the renewal of their existing leases. Pederson also is involved with marketing initiatives associated with the company’s retail centers. Possessing a background in construction management and project development, Pederson attended Arizona State University and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers’ Next Generation Committee.

Brian Harpel

   Director of Development


Brian Harpel Brian possesses more than 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and oversees all aspects of company’s development activities, including the analysis and securement of sites for the company’s future retail projects, oversight of the entitlement process with various municipal bodies and officials, and “anchor-tenant” negotiations.

Prior to joining The Pederson Group, Harpel owned and operated The Harpel Company Inc., a Tucson-based brokerage firm focusing on retail shopping center development and national tenant representation. He began his professional real estate career in with CB Commercial (now CBRE) as a retail broker before founding his own company in 2000. He attended the University of Arizona and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management.

He currently serves as President of the DM50, a business group that supports the airmen and missions at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, and is a past president of the Metropolitan Pima Alliance which promotes collaborative real estate development in Pima County. He has been on the ICSC State Program Committee and is licensed in the State of Arizona as a Real Estate Broker.
